Before Asti came to live with us, I was curious about what corgis looked like at different stages. I was especially interested in how she would look at 3–4 months since the breeders sent us pictures, but we couldn’t bring her home yet. So, I was dying to know what she’d look like when she finally got here.
And then, of course, I wondered how big she would get. I hope this article satisfies someone else’s curiosity too 💭.
According to the standard, females should weigh between 10–13 kg, and males no more than 14 kg.
So, let’s take a look at our little corgi!
1 Month

A tiny baby, not looking like a corgi at all! At first, we thought this would be her final color and were surprised that she wasn’t reddish. Our first-ever dog—what did we know? 😂
2 Months
Corgi-like facial features are starting to appear, but her ears aren’t fully upright yet.

Still watching her grow only through breeder photos.
3 Months

We finally brought Asti home! This photo was taken on her very first day. She slept the entire time—a wonderful phase, because for the next six months, sleep would become a luxury 😂. If you’re thinking about getting a puppy, know that the first 1–1.5 years are the toughest. I’ll write about that separately.
Her signature reddish color is starting to come through.
4 Months

Introducing her to car rides. It wasn’t easy, but we made it, and now we road-trip together across different countries.
Her comfort buddy? A hippo – her fav toy)
5 Months
Ears are fully up, and she’s growing like crazy!

Tiny Master Yoda.
6 Months
We made it to Turkey! Feels like we all lost weight in the heat—even Asti. There’s almost no difference between 5 and 6 months.

Our little Turkish beauty.
7 Months
The classic corgi smile! Not the most flattering photo, but this is that awkward transition period. She’s on her way to becoming a full-grown dog. Fun fact: around this time, Asti developed a pink spot on her muzzle, which disappeared a few months later just as mysteriously.

Meet our smiley pup.
8 Months
This is when we started keeping an eye on her weight—8 months, 8 kg. Around this time, we also experienced a real corgi shedding season. Clumps of fur everywhere. On sunny days, it felt like a never-ending nightmare 😂.

First time trying raspberries.
9 Months
After 8 months, the changes became less noticeable. From this point on, growth was more about filling out—bones and muscle mass. Her length, however, stayed the same.

A well-behaved girl.
10 Months
Now, she’s a real corgi. This is it. Well, she is. First-ever jumpsuit fitting! Ordered it from AliExpress, but forgot that corgis need clothes tailored to their unique body shape. This one ended up too short and served no purpose except looking funny.
I’ll write more about how and where to find the right clothes for a corgi soon. Stay tuned—it’ll be useful and fun!

Looking adorable, don’t you think?
11 Months
People said corgis grow until they’re about a year and a half. Asti is now one year and seven months old, and we haven’t noticed any changes since she turned one 😉.

Favorite sleeping pose.
12 Months
We celebrated her birthday in Odesa! Weight: 10 kg. The only real change since last month? A scar on her nose—courtesy of a not-so-great dog trainer 😑.
I’ll write another post about what can happen when you trust the wrong trainer.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Asti!
No More Monthly Changes
After the one-year mark, month-by-month updates don’t make much sense. From one year to 1.7 years, Asti hasn’t changed—just a small winter weight gain 🙂. She’s currently 11.5 kg.
What about your pup? Did you notice how they grew?
